Diversity

The U.S. is very diverse. It is called the land of opportunity. Some go as far as to call it the melting pot because of its diversity. THere arre many different people here. When they come they bring their religion, language, and customs. This makes the U.S. very culturally different. There are many different ways diversity is promoted. Most academic invite only clubs go somewhere regularly to learn the different cultures and religions af the area. There ae also foreign exchange programs. Diversity is suppported and welcomed in many different ways all over the U.S.

My Favorite place in the U.S.

Hey,
I really like the U.S. alot. There are 50 states to choose from. I definitely think those states such as Kentucky, South Dakota, and North Dakota are underappreciated. While those arent my favorite states I feel sorry for states like that that are never talked about. But then again I bet there are less people. I actually enjoy alot of places such as California, Hawaii, Texas, Colorado, Florida,, New York, and Virginia. I enjoy Orange County, California because thats where my uncle lives and its pretty awesome. And who doesn't enjoy Hawaii? Definitely enjoy Austin, Texas. I go to school here and my freinds are here. I enjoy Houston, Texas because thats where I grew up and my grandparents live there. College Station, Texas is a favorite becasue im an AGGIE! And my cousin goes there and we always have the best time! Estes Park, Colorado and the ski range abot an hour away because thats where one of my uncle's vacation homes is and I always enjoy spending time with family. The ski range is awesome because snow tubing, AMAZING! Pensacola, Florida because another one of my uncle's vacation homes is there. Its really cool. Its on the Gulf of Mexico. I get to drive the jet ski there. I have alot of fun there as well. New York becuase that place is just amazing. Its pretty hard to describe. I would definitely put that as a place to go if you've never been to the U.S. or even to New York. And Virginia is where my littlest, funnest, and most innocent cousins live. And Virginia is one of those places not heard about alot but I still enjoy it.

Terrorist Attacks

Hey,
Over recent years there have been many different terrorist attacks. In the early 1990's there was an internal terrorist attaavk in Oklahoma by Timothy McVey. He was an american citizen who attacked a government building. He was unhappy with the political system and wanted people to know how vulnerable our country was. The most recent significant attack was 9-11-2001 which changed america forever. This was the first major foreign attack on american soil. Bin Laden took credit for the devistating attack on the two World Trade Centers, killing thousands of people. To prevent terrorist attacks the government has put alot of invasive measures in place. They can listen in to your calls thinking they are gonna cathc a terrorist. How do we as a country protect ourselves while maintaining our civil liberties?

Anderson High School

Hey again,
Anderson is very awesome school. There are quite a few things I like and dont like. Some things i like are how they always keep the rooms very very cold. I like the cold. Another thing I like is the huge choice of clubs. They have almost any club you could think of! Im in Leadership Council and Key Club. They are just like each other. hey are both clubs all about community service. Theyre are ALOT of people at Anderson. Because theyre are so many people its natural to like and dislike some. The other thing i dont really care for at Anderson is the fact that it is kinda outdoors. And when it rains parts of the walkways in the buildings get all wet. O well, overall I love Anderson its a great school.

Talk to you next time,

Illegal Immigrants

There are alot of illegal immigrants in the U.S. I personally don't know of any illegal immigrants. Here in Texas most illegal immigrants are from Mexico because Mexican border is just down south of Texas. Some people care very strongly about illegal immigrants. People suggest very crazy ideas to try and eliminate illegal immigrants. Some people suggest a wall such as the one in Berlin in the late 1900s. I personally think thats crazy. I also definitely dont think its fair though. Illegal immmigrants are not on any records so they arent taxed. But they still get the same benefits as a member of socicety who actually pays their taxes. While I dont like the idea of illegal immigrants not having to pay taxes, I definitely dont think building a wall is the way to go. I understand why alot of illegal immigrants wants to come to the U.S.- its called "the Land of Opportunities." They try and post some National Guards at the border but they clearly arent putting enough there. They dont have enough National Guard to put at the border because everyone is in Iraq. My thoughts on the war are a different blog entirely at a different time. I shouldnt be complaining though. I dont have a solution and I'm not helping stop illegals from illegally crossing the border. O, well. Talk to you next blog.

Blog 2- Summer Activities

Hello, Its me again! Hope you enjoyed my first blog. Yes, I know I'm the next Gossip Girl. ;D I try. So I see I have to write about my summer activities. I spent 4 weeks of my too short summer break at Strength and Conditioning at Anderson. It was basically football camp. Rough and tiring but very very worth it. I then spent the next week with my aunt and uncle and 4 AWESOME cousins in NJ. My uncle took me to midnight movies, blockbuster movie runs at midnight and midnight snack runs- I love doing stuff when its like midnight out it always seems like so much more fun. I also spent a couple nights with my g-parents(grandparents). It was very fun. They took me and my 4 cousins to the Austin Park and Pizza of NJ. My 4 cousins in NJ are A(9), A(8), A(5), A(2). A(5) is probably my favorite out of them 4. O wait! I cant have favorites! Duh! But if I could you all know where my vote would be going. I then spent then next week sick with a very bad cold. I know sucks! After that exhausting, very unfun week I was asked to help out around my favorite camp, Camp Doublecreek, I didnt even get paid! :'( But it was still SO much fun!! I did trash, washed cars, filled up water balloons, drove golf carts (EXACTLY like cars), DJ'd the music, and was a counselor. I know trash, EWW! But I've been growing up there during the summers since I turned 4. I cant wait to work there and actually get paid! My cousin, B, now attends A&M and I visited her for a weekend. It was SO much fun. We went to midnight movies and hung out. Her boyfriend, Y, was there too- I LOVE THEM! Summer just seemed too short. But I was definitley excited to start at a new school and see my old friend and make new ones.

XOXO,

Blog 1- About Me

Hey! My name is Caitlyn Talbert and I go to Anderson High School and I'm in the 9th grade. I just recently turned 14. I was born in Houston, Texas but when I was 4 my family and I moved to Austin, Texas. I am an only child. All the way through 8th grade I went to private school. From 2nd to 8th grade I went to St. Theresa Catholic School. Anderson is very different from my small private school but I am very glad I'm going to Anderson.

Although I went to a catholic school I am Methodist. I'm half African American and half Indian. I really enjoy basketball and will hopefully make a team at Anderson. I have one dog, Comet. He is a Bichon Frise. He is very small, he weighs 11 pounds. He is like a little puff ball with his long, fluffy, white hair. I'm still friends with kids from my old school and I have made some new friends at Anderson. My mom went to A&M and I love the aggies! My cousin now goes there. I wanna go there for my undergrad. GIG 'EM!
